Drupal Views Slideshow: Creating a Slideshow with Multiple Images Per Node
In this 9 minute Drupal video tutorial, we look at how to create a drupal views slideshow on nodes that have multiple images attached to them via the CCK imagefield. This Drupal video tutorial is based on a written tutorial at http://drupal.org/node/814132 except in this video, we include the image description field so that you can include descriptions for each image in the views slideshow.
Big thanks to http://twitter.com/redndahead and the other co-maintainers for the awesome Slideshow module. Make sure to let them know how much you appreciate the module.
Enjoy!

Hi, nice tutorial. That
Hi, nice tutorial. That little tip about the Devel module might be why I could never get this to work when gave it a shot! Anyway, I'm not sure why you feel you need to race through these. If folks are telling you that they can get this stuff down at hyper speed they're lying!
Thanks again, I appreciate the insights. I'll be back to watch some of your other videos!
Hey Mark, thanks for the
Hey Mark,
thanks for the feedback! The speed up on the tutorials has been for a couple of reasons, partly because I'm seeing a significant drop off in viewers as time progresses... as a result, i've tried to keep them short to maintain interest. additionally, i also started pushing them to youtube and they only allow you to have 10 minute videos... if they do move too fast, let me know, I'm happy to explain anything in the comments.

When I get to arguments I get this message:

Hey Pete, thanks for the tutorial, you saved whats left of my mind :)
after hours of messing around with all sorts of solutions, wondering why my simple view slideshow wasn't working, I saw this tutorial and the bit about the Devel module being enabled. Being new to Drupal it would have taken for ever probably to figure that that was causing my slideshow not to work.
you made my day!!!
Hey Nicholas, Good to hear!
Hey Nicholas,
Good to hear! I remember pulling my hair out when mine wasn't working until realizing it was devel. Devel is awesome but you definitely have to remember it can screw up the site code. I had one client who came to me looking for maintainence on a site developed by someone else. With devel enabled, javascript didnt' work site wide and it took me forever to realize it (I'm sure there were other reasons but we left it at that).
All the best,
Pete

Hey Pete I hate to be a party pupper, I started a new site I only put a few modules and made a content type all images in 1 node , but when I add the argument it comes again the same notice :
"warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in F:\xampp\htdocs\laa\includes\form.inc on line 1212."
In case you have a hint , welcome , If I find a solution I´ll write back with it , thanks again

Pete,
Last night I went to bed frustrated because for hours before I could not figure out how to get multi-image slideshow views working. I awoke this morning recollecting that night's dream in which the message was: don't give up - perseverance will pay off. So this morning I'm Googling for an answer when lo and behold I find you and the perfect solution. So dreams come true! Thanks a million and I've bookmarked your site as a permanent resource. BTW, I agree with a prior comment: you should not feel constrained by time. Based on this video, time watching is time well spent.
I follow all steps before
I follow all steps before view's block style: it doesn't appear. I try set up: "Image Link to Node" or " Link This Field to Its Node" in field image options. Can you explain the type of your gallery content?. My content is: type field file and image, and create two nodes (without URL, all default option ).
Pd: I'm beginner of Drupal.
Thank you in advance.
I solved the last error:
I solved the last error: mistake about versions views and viewslide -> this is must be the same but, I cant understand the last step something like than "level". I make the view with all steps, but appears two images (I created two type of image contend) and nothing slideshow. Whats the problem in this case?.
Thank you in advance.
Thank you for this excellent
Thank you for this excellent brief tutorial, I was puzzled about the block display and some other things and this tutorial cleared it up
You are great Peter! Not even
You are great Peter! Not even because of the slideshow instructions, but your remark about Devel/Theme developer conflicts with Views made me check one weird behavior that has been bothering me and - yes! - this was it. I disabled Devel/ThDev and now my aggregation works OK. I love those moments of clarity! Thanks a bunch!
I am working on a new site
I am working on a new site for a client and they really want an animated header similar to the one seen at (http://www.pancretan.org). This is pretty simple to do in flash, but of course there are too many iPads and iPhones in use these days for that to be a viable solution. Anyway, I need three slideshows all in one frame and the ability to overlay an image/logo over top of one or more slideshows. Can this be done or am I wasting my time taking this approach?

Good snappy explanation but
Good snappy explanation but what was missing for me was the explanation of the gallery content type. What did you mean by multiple images per node? Do you mean you have to create multiple image-type fields for the one content type?
