Drupal 7 Ubercart Tutorial Series

Launch Your Ubercart e-Commerce Store Today

Congratulations on making the decision to launch your own e-Commerce store with Drupal 7 and Ubercart! Drupal and Ubercart are great platforms that allow you to customize all aspects of your store. However, the problem is, both can be very confusing and time consuming to work with.

But don’t worry. I created this video tutorial series with those challenges in mind. I wanted to help those entrepreneurs who:

  • Are using Drupal and Ubercart for the first time to launch their own e-commerce store
  • Are confused by the endless customization Drupal and Ubercart can provide
  • Are quick learners, pick things up fast and like hands on learning
  • Want to get their store launched yesterday and start selling products

When I recorded this series, my goal was to teach new Ubercart'ers how to create and maintain their own store using clear and fast paced instructions. I hate tutorials that take 10 minutes to make a single point. Our time is too valuable for that and I firmly believe, if you need to slow things down, you can pause the video.

This series is not for indecisive people who aren’t sure if Drupal and Ubercart are right for them. If you’re on the fence about either, don’t buy this series. If you are looking for constant hand holding, slow moving instructions or are the type of person to ask 100 questions in a seminar, this series is not for you.

On the other hand, if you are the type of person who learns by doing rather than only watching, likes it when instructors get to the point quickly, and is self-motivated, this series is for you. In fact, I’m so confident that you’ll find what you need, I’m including a 7 day, no questions, full purchase refund if you are unsatisfied with the series in any way.

Here’s what I cover:

Chapter 1: Configuring Your Site. We start by configuring our server. I walk you through the requirements of Drupal, creating your database, creating a database user and installing drupal.

Chapter 2: Common Drupal Terminology. Here we step back from our website and go over some common Drupal terminology including "modules", "themes", "nodes" and "blocks". This chapter is intended for brand new Drupal users.

Chapter 3: Downloading Modules. We continue developing our e-commerce site by adding functionality we need via modules. I walk you through things to consider when choosing modules and provide a list that we'll need for our site.

Chapter 4: Configuring Modules. Next we begin configuring the modules we added to our site in Chapter 3. I walk you through the configuration of all but the Ubercart modules.

Chapter 5: Configuring Ubercart. Following Chapter 4, we begin to configure Ubercart. This includes walking through all of the Ubercart configuration pages and making some minor changes.

Chapter 6: Continuing to Configure Ubercart. In Chapter 6, we continue developing our e-commerce site by configuring Ubercart's shipping quotes with UPS, flat rates, and weight quotes, configuring paypal and setting up conditional taxes.

Chapter 7: Creating Products and the Ubercart Catalog. Now that we have Ubercart configured, we start creating products including shippable products, purchased roles and downloadable products. Once done, we take a look at configuring the catalog which includes examining the taxonomy system in Drupal.

Chapter 8: Customizing the Catalog with Views and Product Attributes. In this Chapter, we uninstall the catalog module and I demonstrate how to override our taxonomy terms with the view provided by the Views module. We then create and add some attributes to our products and finish the video tutorial by creating a new view which actually replaces our previous catalog.

Chapter 9: Product Kits, Store Stock and Order States. This is our last stop before we launch our site. In it, we look at configuring product kits, setting up store stock and looking at our order states.

Chapter 10: Launching Your Site. In this final Chapter, I show you how to take your site live. This includes switching over paypal and UPS to your live account. From there, we look at Ubercart reports, Ubercart friendly themes and add-on modules for Ubercart

Thank you very much for your tutorials. This is the best one that i find for drupal 7+Ubercart. My English is not really good, but even for me it's very clear. Thank you Pete again, and greetings from Ukraine. Look forward to continuing.

Great series -- I really appreciate this one. The documentation on Ubercart could really use some more clearly explained videos like these.

Not sure if this series is for you? Here are some common questions I get asked:

I’ve always been a Wordpress guy but want to set up an Ubercart store. Will your series help me?

Definitely. If you’ve used Wordpress, you’ll be familiar with content management system concepts (Drupal is a content management system after all). You’ll fit right in with this series because it is fast paced and will quickly teach you key Drupal concepts before focusing on launching your store.

I’ve used Drupal before but never Ubercart. Should I still buy this series?

I’d still recommend it. The first part of the series does focus on Drupal basics but we quickly move to modules I’d recommend for any Ubercart store before actually configuring Ubercart itself. There are a lot of places where you could get stuck setting up Ubercart so I think it’s better avoid the risk of getting stuck, pulling your hair out and then deciding to buy the series.

I’ve already started developing an Ubercart store but have no idea how to allow people to download files / purchase roles / ship products, etc. Will your series help me?

My series covers all the basics of setting up a store with Ubercart and covers major topic areas like creating products, how to set up shipping quotes, how to allow users to download files, how to purchase roles and much more. In addition, if this is your first Ubercart store, chances are there are some nuances you may have missed. I’d recommend the series if your specific needs fall within the series overview above.

Why would I buy this if the tutorials are available on Youtube?

For this purchase, I’ve re-recorded the chapter introductions and conclusions to help you solidify concepts and your learning. Additionally, you also receive the high definition and ipod versions of the series as two separate files so that you can watch in the comfort of your own home or on the go while you may not have an internet connection, like riding the subway. Lastly, owning the series also means you don’t have to watch the annoying advertisements on Youtube (sorry - they help subsidize all of my free tutorials) and you’ll always have a copy and be able to go back to it in the event anything ever happened to the videos on Youtube.

Is it really 100% satisfaction guaranteed?

Yup, no questions asked. However, if you want to tell me how to improve future videos when you request your money back, I'd really appreciate that.

Does this mean you are going to stop doing free tutorials?

Nope. I started recording tutorials to help give back to the Drupal community and it is something I still love doing. I plan to keep recording tutorials but it is becoming harder and harder to find the time. Selling a series here and there will help me refrain from having to take on additional development products so I can to continue to produce these videos.
